It’s usually just like that. The ‘very special episode’ of your favorite show. The sad girl in a wheelchair. The paralyzed angry veteran. The disfigured villain. The asexual classmate. A side character. Tragic. Or more angelic than Jesus. It’s Not Even Like That is a comedic podcast that examines how the media depicts disability and smacks it in the face with a dose of reality! Through conversations with disabled comedians, actors, and media personalities, this show proves reality is funnier than fiction while smashing stereotypes along the way.

HOST

Pavar Snipe

Comeidan, Writer, Producer

Pavar Snipe is the host of “It’s Not Even Like That.” Diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis as a child, she knows what it’s like to be both disabled and non-disabled. But despite her chronic illness, Pavar has always focused on what she can do and not what she can’t. That drive has taken her career from morning radio host, to TV news producer, to DreamWorks animation star (“Dragons: The Nine Realms”), to ABC comedy writer (“When Nature Calls with Helen Mirren), stand-up comedian, and Emmy-nominated producer. The many chapters in her life led her to create a podcast in which she talks to her peers about their own unique experiences of being disabled and their opinions on how the media portrays disability. This show is like a pop culture nostalgia bomb, with jokes, sarcasm and real lessons along the way.

PRODUCER

Emily Turner

Producer, Writer

Emily E. Turner is a New York City-based writer and producer who hails from the small but mighty state of Vermont. In addition to working for notable production companies like Ron Howard's Imagine Entertainment, she has worked on series like PBS Digital's Read Awakening and has had several of her own shows optioned by major television networks. After the eruption of an autoimmune disease turned her life upside down, Emily was inspired to start creating comedy for her fellow members of the disability community. In April 2024 she and Pavar Snipe put on ReelAbilities LIVE!, a live comedy show composed of sketches, stand-up, and digital shorts that featured an all-disabled cast and crew.
